Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former Minister of Education and Petroleum Resources, Professor Jibril Aminu, describing him as a towering figure in Nigeria’s history.

In a condolence message issued on Wednesday, Governor Radda described the late professor as a symbol of excellence in leadership, academia, and public service, noting his contributions as deeply impactful not only to the North but to the entire nation.

“Professor Jibril Aminu was not just a great northerner but a Nigerian icon whose contributions to education, the energy sector, and diplomacy left indelible marks in our nation's history,” the Governor said.

He praised Professor Aminu’s distinguished career, highlighting his service as Minister of Education and later as Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources between 1989 and 1992. Governor Radda also recalled his diplomatic role as Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 and his tenure as Senator representing Adamawa Central from 2003 to 2011.

Governor Radda extended his condolences to the government and people of Adamawa State, the Aminu family, and all those influenced by the late scholar’s legacy. He also called on the younger generation to emulate Professor Aminu’s dedication to education, public service, and national development.

The statement was signed by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State.
